FS1000S and receiver from Ebay.com Unbranded low cost modules at 433 mHz.

As per my earlier post, in my opinion these modules are not really suitable for your application. BenR gave a link to work he has been doing with the modules and in his post he has managed to send a byte. Sterling work, no mistake!

Trying to send data packets with these modules isn't impossible but is it really worth the effort?

When I need any form of radio link my "goto" are products from RF Solutions whom I highly recommend. MJU did a project using a LoRa module from Ebyte which may be of interest here:-

I bought a couple of the modules to play with and I think they were about £5 each. Not too troublesome to incorporate, have sleep capabilities to save on power, comply with ISM and can reliably communicate over many Km.
