FAD 2D panel and managing Groups of components

Post by jay_dee »

Hi, I am hacking about an FAD example and the 2D panel has many groups of components.
I struggle to select individual items in the group. I can select items via project explorer but I have no idea where the items listed, are on the "D page so it a process of trial and error.
Are there any techniques/ settings that help identify the individual parts of a larger 2D assembly.

Also how are groups made / broken ?
thanks :) J.

Hi J.
What you can do is use the drop-down arrow within the properties window, to select the component or group you are interested in.
Then the component/group will have a red/green arrow showing for you to drag change the size.
Or you can right click on the panel and choose Selection, Ungroup.
You can also rename the components/group within the Handle of the properties.
The new name will then appear within the components of project explorer.

Thanks Martin,
Ahh..so have now found the 'groups' selection tree structure.

I still could not get the ungroup option...then I found that you cannot un-group a higher level, you have to un-group from the lowest level group and work upwards.
Thanks again, that will help me un-pick this FAD example.

You're welcome.
What you can do for speed is select everything on the panel and ungroup everything at once.
