I was on holiday from the 6th to the 13th October.
I will order a GY-271 then dig back in soon to try and get this resolved for you.

Just an update I have ordered hopefully the correct version.
I have already received one.
Instead of the described HMC5883L , the IC2 address is 0x2C which is QMC5883P, even though board shows GY-271

that chip seems to be a lucky dip to what one you will receive.
I ordered the same board as seen in your first post, and the address is 0x0D.
That is the QMC588L which is being used to replace the obsolete HMC5883L.
That is understandable but does not help.
Just to confirm the device that currently works for you had address 0x0D?

No name Only this GY-271 I2C adress 0x1E doesn´t work at all. According the Web new model and more stable
