Flowcode 6.1.3 released!
Hello all,
I thought I would use my first post on the forum to announce that Flowcode 6.1.3 has just been released!
The full install can be downloaded here and (if you have version 6.1.2 currently installed) then there is a patch you can download here that will bring you up to the latest version. Please note that the patch will not work for versions of Flowcode older than 6.1.2.
Alternatively from inside Flowcode you can go to Help >> Check for Updates.
A list of new features, changes & fixes can be found here.
Thank you!
Simon

Re: Flowcode 6.1.3 released!
Hello,
I am having problems applying the 6.1.3.2 patch to 6.1.2.0.
I get the message "Directory selected did not contain the Flowcode.exe file. Patch tool will now exit."
My system is W7 64 bit. Flowcode is in an X86 Program files directory.
Putting the patch in the same directory as Flowcode.exe does not work.
Applying the patch on a W7 32bit machine works.
Help please.
Regards
Stewart

btw: I breathe hard,
no USB Host Funktion, no USB Midi for 8 bit ( earliest with change compiler in FC7 ? ) , a pity!
but i know, you guys have it on the list. hope it gets for FC6

USB MIDI for 8 Bit ( PIC18F2550 ) would be really nice.
Especially since it also for ICON Standard belongs to FC. 6
USB HOST ok, would be a new feature. Will wait then for this in newer FC.
EDIT's:
fine bug fixes founds, thanks!
- SPI software mode was loosing it's pin connections when you reload the project
- medelec35 fix Vref enable for ADC Type 7 (16F883, 16F884, 16F886, 16F887)
..

Re: Flowcode 6.1.3 released!
Problem found and fixed.
The people that installed my W7 64bit OS did it with 8dot3 file names switched off. So the Program Files (x86) directory structure was created for short file names.
These are not recognised by FC updates.
I reinstall FC with the 6.1.3, and now it is working.
Thanks to the team for the effort they put into this release.
Best regards
Stewart

Hi Guys,
one think over the things with boostC compiler.
http://www.sourceboost.com/CommonDownlo ... onLog.html
when do you do the system update for compiler BoostC V 7.20 ( June 2013 ) to the last BoostC V 7.30 ( May 2015 )
fixes 7.30 ( may 2015 )
- Improved compiler speed. Now it is about 3x faster
- Fixed code generation for left shift of byte by 16
- Fixed error when result of complex expression that used left shift wasn't promoted to 32 bits
- and more
fixes 7.22 ( feb 2014 )
- fixed compiler error when byte was shifted left by 16
- fixed problems in BoostBuild remote build server
- removed incorrect compiler warning when variable passed into a call as a reference was reported as uninitialised
- added ___get_heap_info function that shows size of allocated/free heap memory (PIC18 only)
- and more
fixes 7.21 ( jan 2014 )
- fixed problem in code generation for binary 'or' operation for 8 and 16 bit constants
- added support for arrays declared in PIC16F1xxx linear address space
- added error for non-array variables placed into linear address range
- added compile time output for verbose mode
- fixed problem where last changes caused ICD register reservations not to work on some targets (namely PIC12F629, and potentially others)
- added address truncation detection in linker so that addresses that can't be reached with normal instruction addressing, but need fsr use, are flagged
- added support for PIC18F24K50, PIC18F25K50 and PIC18F45K50
- and more
or can you teach, how we can install the patches / updates.
thanks
best wishes
rudi

Re: Flowcode 6.1.3 released!
Hi Rudi,
We are aware of the BoostC updates. However when trying them we found that the compile speed was not anywhere near 3x faster and that the new compiler broke our USB components so the updates were not included.
In some cases I noticed a speed increase of about 1.2 x but the fact that things had been broken meant we simply could not take the risk.
If you want to try the updated yourself then you can. Simply copy the latest files over the files here.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Flowcode 6\compilers\pic\boostc
Some of the file names will also need changing. BoostC uses a lot of files with double full stops which a lot of anti virus software will automatically flag as a potential threat. We replace the full stop with an underscore to stop this being an issue.
e.g. boostc.16f.exe becomes boostc_16f.exe.
If you take a back up of your boostc folder first and then compare against the Sourceboost install then this should help you to get the file names right for what Flowcode needs. Once you have replaced the files it might be worth activating Flowcode again to ensure the BoostC license is also activated.

Re: Flowcode 6.1.3 released!
We're having an issue with our Matrix HP4829 PROTO BOARD'S.
We're trying to compile to chip in flowcode but while it says it's successful toward the end of the compile it just says 'Chip not found' and talks about making sure it's plugged in and pressing reset so that the green light is showing. (The green light is showing already)
It strikes me as a Driver issue but I can't seem to find any drivers for this board.
Would you be able to help?
Cheers,
Zac.

Re: Flowcode 6.1.3 released!
Hi Zac,
This board is HID based and so shouldn't require a USB driver. When prompted press the reset button on the board and this should kick start the bootloader and allow the board to be reprogrammed.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: Flowcode 6.1.3 released!
Hi Benj,
I'm unsure what will be causing the issue then as it isn't working. The computers simply say they're not detected. I've tried this on a Student Login, a Staff Login and even my Network Administrator login with full permissions and it isn't working. It simply times out and says there is no board detected even if I use the reset button (which does flash)
Any thoughts on how I can trouble shoot this? Would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Zac.

Hi Zac,
Can you post your project file so we can be sure the problem isn't lying there. Maybe with the wrong target device selected etc?
