PIC16(L)F88 not recognised by PPPv3 follow up...

Hi Steve or collegue from Matrix M.,

I really need to try and bring this to some sort of conclusion as it is good that Ben has enabled the LF88 to be used in my Flowcode v4 but frustrating that I find PPPv3 doesn't recognise it and therefore I can't use it at present. The weekend is coming up and I could use the time to implement it.

I urgently need to make some decisions on this project by Monday, as it is now to be used for a commercial application and I have to finalise all the detail design for prototyping by then.

Many thanks in anticipation,

Chris

Hello Chris,

The 16F88 and 16LF88 autodetect as the same device so unfortunately PPP can never really support the LF device. Saying this if you send a program designed for the 16F88 then it should also run fine on the LF version. Maybe it's worth contacting microchip and seeing if they can suggest why a program that works fine on the F version will not run correctly on the LF version, they may be aware of a bug in the silicone etc.

Hi Ben,

OK - just needed to see if there was anything else that could be done and I definitely will follow that up with Microchip because: I was trying again this morning and I realised that the Transmitter PIC DOES in fact download to the LF88 but the RECEIVER doesn't. So I have been thinking that NEITHER worked but it is the Rx that is the problem (although as 'we' know, the same Rx flowchart loads quite happily onto an F88!).
With F88's it all works quite happily over the hardwired or wireless link - strange!

Thanks for the reply.

Best regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

No problem and let us know how you get on with Microchip.
Always hate to palm people off like this but can't really think of anything further to suggest to try and resolve the problem.
