RF component information

Is there any further information on the RF component in FC5?
There appears to be conflict between the MX494 data (also identical to RFM12B for those using this breed of device)
The extended sync and sync byte description is not very clear.
Also the component does not accept baud rates lower than 4800bd. This is a problem for the default internal clocks on AVR devices (8Mhz/8 = 1Mhz).
Does the hardware SPI port need to be enabled separately?
Can you turn the clkout off or change the frequency? Turning off can help with interference issues and data reliability at higher baud rates, and using 10Mhz out is good for calibrating the units, which I find is neccessary when trying to achieve the best data reliability when sending longer packets of data.
Is there detail on the packet structure used with the Byte and string send macros?
Is there FC5 example code available? The website has FC4 but this was custom component code, not the new RF component code.
Thanks
Ken
