Arduino Mega2560 R3 and Combo Board, Unable to Compile

Hi, I'm new to this. Please help.

Just downloaded V7.1.1

Compiler Error: C:\Program Files (x86)\Flowcode 7\compilers\avr\batchfiles\avrc_arduinoB.bat reported error code 1

I noticed this problem is solved for the Uno R3, will the same solution work for me?

Thanks Very Much :D

You could try and update the components and see if it works for you.

Otherwise, please could you attach your project file .fcfx and the message file .msg.txt

Howdy,
Updating component files didn't work. Here's the files you requested:
LED Flasher.fcfx
Had to remove the .001 designation for it to upload.
(6.47 KiB) Downloaded 281 times
LED Flasher.msg.txt
(2.66 KiB) Downloaded 280 times
Thanks for looking into this! :D

Hello,

The ".FCFX" file is the Flowcode project file.

The ".FCFX.001" file is a backup file, i.e. your previous save.

It looks like the program is compiling but not programming, is your COM port specified correctly for your Arduino board in the project options?

If you are still having problems then you can use the xloader tool or AVRdudess to transfer the Flowcode hex file to your Arduino device.

XLoader - http://russemotto.com/xloader/

Avrdudess - http://blog.zakkemble.co.uk/avrdudess-a ... r-avrdude/

Let us know how you get on, the 2560 R3 is known to work so hopefully it is something simple like the COM port number.

Well, it wasn't the COM port number. Can't be that simple.

I realized I had a deeper problem when I couldn't get Xloader or AVRDUDESS to run. Apparently updating from Win 7 to Win 10 erases your libusb0.dll file. This shuts down Xloader's AVRDUDE and also AVRDUDESS. The AVRDUDESS web site addressed the problem to a large extent, but the solution wasn't totally accurate.

What I did was download the libusb-win32-bin-1.2.6.0/bin/x86/libusb_x86.dll file from Zak Kemble's AVRDUDESS site, extracted it and then dug libusb0_x86.dll out of it (here's where it is - libusb-win32-bin-1.2.6.0\bin\x86\libusb0_x86.dll). Then I renamed it to libusb.dll and then copied it to Windows\SysWOW64 (because I have a 64 bit computer).

I had found these instructions in a README file and they helped a lot:

ALL ARCHITECTURES:
x86\libusb0_x86.dll: x86 32-bit library. Must be renamed to libusb0.dll
On 64 bit, Installs to Windows\syswow64\libusb0.dll.
On 32 bit, Installs to Windows\system32\libusb0.dll.

So, I had no libusb0.dll file in Windows previously - - - (this is the error that AVRDUDESS displayed), and now I do, and now AVRDUDESS runs without a hitch.

Once I had that problem fixed, I thought I would try to get Flowcode 7 to compile for my Mega2560 R3 with EB083 combo board.

Now I have a new error message to share with you:

COFF file creation successful!

Launching the programmer...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Flowcode 7\compilers\avr\batchfiles\avrc_arduinoB.bat m2560 stk500v2 com3 115200 "LED Flasher.hex"

C:\Users\m\Desktop\FLOWCO~1>"C:\PROGRA~2\FLOWCO~1\COMPIL~1\avr\BATCHF~1\..\bin\oldavrdude\avrdude.exe" -p m2560 -P com3 -b 115200 -c stk500v2 -U flash:w:"LED Flasher.hex"
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

avrdude.exe: stk500_2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout

In the midst of all this madness I had performed a system restore (a shot in the dark). So now I had the opportunity to update the component files again & see if it helped. It didn't, I actually regressed to the original compiler error I was experiencing in the post above. So I put the component files back the way they were, so that I'm getting the timeout error again.

Does this error have a fix? I realize I have a workaround available now (AVRDUDESS) but thought I would ask anyway.

Sorry this turned into a novel, but I thought it might help someone else.
