AVR Compiler toolchain is not installed

Hi,
I've been using Flowcode 8 and it has been fine until today. When I try to send my program to the chip I get this:

- Flowcode Error.jpg (13.04 KiB) Viewed 9244 times
I've completely uninstalled Flowcode and reinstalled but I get the same result.
I went to
http://www.flowcode.co.uk/flowcode to download but there was no toolchain that I could find
Thanks for your time,
Dave

Thanks kersing! I did not try that link, missing the \download. It works now, do you know why it just stopped working?
I've been using FC8 since it came out....

Hi Dave.
Did you install the AVR toolchain on your first install and have you been compiling to target previously? Strange for it to just stop working unless an antivirus has flagged part of the toolchain as a false positive. Either way if it did just stop working it would be good to find out why so we can stop it happening in the future.

Hi!
I have the same problem today when I have to compile to hex with a PIc12F683 in a simple program.
I have programmed before without problem. But today the same problem. first I try to restart FC8, not work, then restart my PC, not help.
Then I uninstall the toolchain and reinstall again, and now it work again.
Hope it´s last time.

Hi Benj,
When I first installed FC8 I didn't even have to think about the AVR toolchain it just worked. The one thing that lines up timewise is a big Windows 10 update that just came through. The new Windows version is 1803. It was nice to be able to download and reinstall the toolchain but why did FC8 still not have the toolchain after a complete reinstall? Also, I still had FC7 loaded and it worked without issue. I tested FC8 on my PC at home and had the same results, no toolchain! Very interesting......

To reduce the size of the FC8 download and installation on disk Matrix split the installer and made separate ones for the toolchains. Not everyone requires all toolchains (and not everyone has fast internet), this way you do not need to download hundreds of additional megabytes if you do not use (and have not licensed) some of the architectures.
FC8 release has had separate installers for the tool chains from day one so you probably installed the AVR toolchain the first time as well.
FC7 uses its own installed toolchain that is located in a different folder on disk.

We'll keep an eye on this, let us know if it happens again.
We currently think it must be linked to some kind of registry action so maybe a registry cleaner, a Windows restore point or something else that has the ability to effect or alter the Windows registry.
An antivirus might remove part of the toolchain if flagged as a false positive but is unlikely to change the registry so is probably not to blame in this case.

Hi kersing,
It is very interesting because I most definitely did not install the toolchain on either of my PCs, did not happen!
If the toolchain was not there in FC8 then FC8 had to somehow use the toolchain from FC7. Both PCs were programming
boards without an issue until this week when both lost the toolchain for reasons unknown. Until you told me, I was unaware that the toolchain
had to be downloaded separately in FC8.
Again, thanks for the help
Dave

Hi Dave,
Sounds like the Matrix team have an other (piece of a) puzzle.
