Return code 34

Hello
Can anyone help me please. I seem to spent more time on resolving issues than programming. This is the latest, I am using PICKKit2.
The program itself is very simple one and it did work before! I have ofcouse checked the connection and setup many times.

Thank you

Ben

Error 34: PGMVFY_ERROR Returned if a program or verify operation fails.

Your setting up of Pickit looks wrong.
Found this in a different post:

Linker /assembler
Location C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Multimedia\Flowcode V4\BoostC\boostlink.pic.exe
params -ld "C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Multimedia\Flowcode V4\BoostC\lib" libc.pic16.lib flowcode.pic16.lib rand.pic16.lib float.pic16.lib "%f.obj" -t PIC%p -d "%d" -p "%f"

programer
Location C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Multimedia\Flowcode V4\tools\PICkit2\pk2cmd.exe
params -PPIC%p -F%f.hex -M -A5 -T -R -BC:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Multimedia\Flowcode V4\tools\PICkit2\

use external program ticked

Location C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Multimedia\Flowcode V4\Tools\PPP\PPPv3.exe
Params -cs 2 -chip PIC%p -config

Notice the -M -A5 -T -R -BC whereas you have got: M -A5 -H
Hope this helps

Try the above settings in bold and let us know how you get on please.

Hi medelec35
Thank you very much and I will try your suggestion later, but the strange thing is though, my setting were always the same and I have had no problems before!!

Hi medelec35
I did try your suggestion, with no success. Also after receiving the code, I can't use the PICs for anyother program for some reasons!!

Hello

Is it possible that the device has been code protected etc in the chip configuration. This could be causing the verify process to think that there is a problem. It also might be worth trying another device just to make sure the device you are using has not become damaged.

Hi Benj
well, thats what I thought, but I have checked the settings and it is not code protected. I have also used new PIC, in case one is damaged. results are the same. if however I program my own very simple code, the programming is done and the PIC works. So far I have used seven PICs which are no longer usable!!

Ben

Hi Ben

Ok thats very odd for the 16F88 they are normally quite nice reliable little devices.

What hardware are you using? Is it a microchip development board or one of your own?

I will investigate the PICkit settings you were using but I dont think this can be the cause of your problems.

Is there anything else that may need to be taken into account eg OS or potential computer issues.

Hi Benj,
The hardware is Microchip development board and my OS is XP. On a separate post I was advised to change some programmer setting to "F%f.hex". I am now able to download my program and so far so good. I think the other PICs are totally damaged.

Regards

Ben
