Another one with ACCESS DENIED !!!!!!!!

Here is one more file where access is denied !
I was trying to inplement interrupt on TMR0.
I think I do nothing else than normal work with Flowcode and now I have this bad error again !
The "07 UpCounter.fcf" IS working and I used it as "template" for the bad file "08 Upcounter INTR.fcf"
What causes this error ?

I've looked at this file in a HEX editor and the header information for the file has been stripped and the end of the file has also been altered.
I have searched on this forum for any other cases of "access denied" and I came across this post:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/mmforum ... ied#p15377
This says the culprit was the DEP settings of the OS. I hope that setting Flowcode to be an exception in the DEP settings should fix this problem.
If this does not fix the problem, then there must be something else on your PC interfering with the way Flowcode creates files.

I have tried on two different pc's -on with W7 fully updated - sometimes "Access denied" to FCF-files !
Now I'm working on a machine with XP - fully updated and here I have the same problem - sometimes "Access denied" to FCF-files !
I both cases I saved on a common netdrive.
I think something looks like Flowcode having a strange file handling.
I have a "spy" on the net traffic and I can see that every time Flowcode stars up it generates some activity on the net - what is Flowcode doing on the net during start up ?
You write "I hope that setting Flowcode to be an exception in the DEP settings should fix this problem." - how do I do that ?
You gave me a link to a LOT of text - I think my problem is unique so what shall I do to fix it ?
I just started all over from file "07" to "08" (the files in my last post) and I get this "Access denied" error again.
I'll try to genere a new "08" from "07" and save it locally and not on the netdrive.

When I save the file LOCALLY I can open it again !
It looks like it's working on the Flowcode screen, but in the hardware NO counting takes place.
Do I mis something by the use of TMR0 or enabling the timer ?
Here it is:

We regularly load and save file across a network. Also, Flowcode does nothing "special" in this regard - it uses the normal inbuilt Windows file-handling routines. Perhaps the fault is with the hard-disk controller? It does not sound like a DEP issue, so I would disregard that other post.
On startup, Flowcode checks the network to see if any other PCs are running Flowcode with the same licence code.

Hello Ksor,
This google search may help.
http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&source=h ... 8208e8ca69
If you also put in the name and brand of your drive then you should get more detailed results.
Please note this is a file system problem and not a Flowcode problem. ie if you saved the files locally and then moved them using Windows then I bet you get the same type of file corruption.
Seems my original diagnosis of a faulty hard drive may be correct.

I'll try read that link - to see if it helps solving the problem.
Benj wrote:Please note this is a file system problem and not a Flowcode problem.
????? No - you'r simple wrong ... how come it works fine with all my "Saved as .." files "01" .... "07" (my original numbering of well working files) and repeatedly (4 times now) failed when I try to save "08" on the netdrive - some corruption appeares when "Saving as .." the "08" file and no files moved with Windows or anything else .... what's the differense in "Save as ... " from files "01" ..."07" and "08" ? - nothing !!!
When I've made the chances I'm "Saving as .." "08"-file name, and when running the "08" file in Flowcode, it seems like working fine. I then compile it into HEX, exits Flowcode and burn this file into the 16F628A. When I come back to Flowcode to re-open the "08" file, I get the "Access Denied"-error .... how can this be a file system error ?????? ... maybe the message text IS a file system error, but what from the file system could have caused this error - it's just plain normal working processes in working with Flowcode I beleave !!!!!!!
The corruption does NOT appear when I "Save as ..." "08" locally on the desktop, exit and then try to re-open the file - how come ?
Benj wrote: ... ie if you saved the files locally and then moved them using Windows then I bet you get the same type of file corruption.
Who's talking about moving the files around with Windows ... I did use "Save as ..." in FlowCode to save the files.

Do you really say here, that MOVING locally saved FCF-file to a netdrive or another LOCAL folder corrupts the files ...

... how can I then arrange my files and folders in the future ????? ..... I simply don't get your point here !
Benj wrote:Seems my original diagnosis of a faulty hard drive may be correct.
?????? No, wrong again ... the problem I think you'r refering to was run on another machine !
And I think you should stop this talking about errors on my machines and deal with "errors or un-expected behaviors" in Flowcode instead - I have checked the drives so many times now, and ALL my other software is working fine - no problems at all with my drives !

I now did this search - and if that's your attitude, that the actual and future problems is caused by my drives, then I'll recommend dropping Flowcode !!
I'll say it again - nothing is wrong with my drives.

Have you tried saving the number 8 file to your computer and then transferring to the remote harddrive?
This is very similar to (if not exactly the same as) saving directly from within Flowcode. As you say Flowcode works fine on the local drive.
The only difference between saving a file on a local drive or saving a file on a netdrive is how and where windows saves the file. Therefore nothing to do with Flowcode
My suggestion to search Google was an attempt to allow you to see that there are issues with netdrives that are out of our control. If you did a search for your specific netdrive then you may see similar problems appearing and maybe a way to resolve them.
as for your comment
No - you'r simple wrong
I assure you im not simple though I'm happy to admit I may be wrong

Benj wrote:Have you tried saving the number 8 file to your computer and then transferring to the remote harddrive?
No - but I can try.
But you have to explain why all the "Saving as ..." from file "01" ... "07" on the netdrive goes right and "Saving as ..." "08" goes wrong - 3-4 times in a row - can you explain that ?
Benj wrote: ..... As you say Flowcode works fine on the local drive.
I don't remember to have read anything about NOT using netdrives or problems using them ! Are you saying here that "to be sure" ... DON'T use netdrives use local drives in Flowcode ?
If that's so I think you should include this info in your marketing material !
Benj wrote:My suggestion to search Google was an attempt to allow you to see that there are issues with netdrives that are out of our control. If you did a search for your specific netdrive then you may see similar problems appearing and maybe a way to resolve them.
I can hardly imaging that " 'Saving as ..' 7 times goes right and the 8. time goes wrong" is covered anywhere.
Benj wrote:No - you'r simple wrong

I'm sorry - wrong spelling - it should have been 'simply wrong' - remember my FIRST language is danish, not english - It was NOT my intension to insult you - sorry.

Sorry It's ok I was not insulted I was just joking and trying to lighten the mood
The way file systems work is to store data in a next free available slot allocated by a partition and file table. it could be that for some reason the filesystem does not like the name or the address that is being assigned. Please note that I am making educated guesses here. What netdrive are you using? Maybe I can find some info on this for you to get it to work with Flowcode correctly.
If netdrives do turn out to be incompatible then I will add a note to the FAQ section saying that we have had problems in the past when using these with Flowcode.

??? It's a NetGear SC101 with two 160Gb Samsung harddrives set up as "mirror" !
- but you must do something very special when saving on netdrives - I don't know but maybe something to protect your copyrights - and that's fare enough - just say it then !
- ALL my software (except Flowcode) is working well with the drive, and ALL my test runnings do show NOTHING WRONG at all !
- what are you doing that are so different from MSOffice, VisualStudio, and ... yeah, you name it , a lot of different software - what are you doing ?
- and what are you doing since 7 times "Saving as ..." goes right but the 8. goes wrong - and 3-4 times in a row ?
But if you CAN solve it WITHOUT making problems for all my other software - then I would be very happy.

Hello Ksor
Right I did a goole search for "NetGear SC101 corrupt files" and the top result was this.
Corrupt Files!!! - NETGEAR Forums - http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=3371
Which seems to highlight that there is a problem. However there is no resolution available here.
The next Google result was this.
Netgear SC101 Storage Central - Reviews - Hardware - Storage ... - http://www.zdnet.com.au/reviews/hardwar ... 598,00.htm
Where there is a customer saying the following.
It seems to have a remarkable ability to corrupt files (ie. word, execel and powerpoint files) ...........even I had upgraded my SC101 with the latest firmware and software.. it didn't make any different to me.
Hopefully the next firmware should fix this problems.
I could continue looking but that is not really my job. I hope you can put your trust back into Flowcode and I also hope you can manage to sort out your file corruption problem on your Netgear device.

Here it is:
You have set flowcode up to count only when a clock pulse is present on T0CKI. The simulator does not care if its an external or internal clock pulse (that's why simulator is working), your hardware does.
If you are not using an external clock pulse you will need to change the timer0 Clock source select in properties from Transition on T0CKI to internal clock.

Hello Ksor
I thought I would have another brief look into the problem for you and found this review.
THIS ITEM IS TERRIBLE STAY AWAY!!!!!
Reviewed by

After a firmware upgrade, both drives do not show up . They are there , the device sees that they are there, they even show that there is space is used. I have never lost any files until I got this POS, now I have 2 hard drive 200gig each almost full of data that I can not get back. If the file system was a standard one I could just plug the drives into a USB box and get the data off!
They need to re-think this idea. Make is a standard file system so when the box takes a dump , the data can be recovered !!
An overall review of 1.3 out of 5 says it all.
http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews94458.html
Looks like this particular device has quite a few problems. I would consider returning this rather then blaming Flowcode
If it makes you feel any better I have recently bought 2 64GB memory sticks off eBay and these both turned out to be fakes that just corrupted the data that was put on. Seems we all have to be a bit more savvy these days over the hardware we are buying.

Gabriel, blow your horn ... what a "scientific" peace of research you made there !
I can find a lot of articles where the drive is coming out very fine - but why should I - it IS and HAS been working fine with ALL my SW for many years now - except with Flowcode !
So, please tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the thruth: Do Flowcode - for whatever reason - use some "special features" when saving on drives - maybe to protect your copyrights ?
- if so, that's fair enough - but just say it - and let's get on with the work !
And please include in your marketing material, that
1) problems CAN arrive with some netdrives and flashdrives, that
2) files - to be safe - should be saved locally and
3) do NOT later moved the files around with Windows
I will now try to save files from Flowcode locally and see if this will work - but please answer the question above.

Hello Ksor,
I have asked Ben to stop replying to this thread because it is a drain on our resources here. Instead of doing work here, he has spent a long time researching a problem that seems very specific to your PC and replying to you in a detail that goes beyond his remit. I hope you understand.
But this does not mean I am not keen to solve this problem. But I'd appreciate if there was an understanding on your part that we are trying to help and you are getting a better service that you would elsewhere. I personally have spent my own time to analyze every single one of your files in a HEX editor to see exactly what has happened.
As far as I know, you are the only person who has this problem. I'd love to hear from anyone else who has experienced anything similar because it might help us track down the problem. At this stage it does not appear to be a problem with Flowcode itself (I would have heard of this problem before if it was). It may also not be a problem with your hardware (but it's difficult for me to rule this out, given your unique problem). But it could be a problem with the way Flowcode interacts with your unique hardware setup.
There is no way we can solve this problem without some more help from you, as you are the only one who can experience it. If you can provide us with an exact process that replicates your problem, we would really get somewhere. Also, you need to play around with some of the settings that could possibly be unique in your situation. For example, does this problem only happen when you are saving files when Flowcode is running in Danish? Are you experiencing the problem when you are saving files using non-ASCII characters in the path/filename?
Also, what happens when you save a file (with the same name) in multiple places - both locally and across a network? Are all instances of the program corrupt, or only some? Is there any pattern?
If you can narrow down the circumstances under which this problem occurs, then it would help us a great deal to solve this problem for you.
And finally, to re-answer your question: Flowcode does nothing special at all when saving files. It uses standard Windows procedures when saving and loading a file. Nothing has changed in the approach it uses to load/save files in over 10 years that this program has been available.

I wonder why ALL OTHER PROGRAM I have ever used, have NO PROBLEMs whatsoever using my netdrive - I have used this drive for years with many different programs and there is NO special settings or special HW in my setup !
When I in a post said my problem was unique - it was a little hint to your statement, that I was the only one with the problem - and a "little later" - maybe in a later posting - you gave me a link to another person with a similar problem

- there was at least ONE other person with a similar problem !
But I now have realized, that Flowcode CAN'T use MY SC101-netdrive - so I tried to use a shared folder on another machine - but after a while similar problems arrived with file "format errors" and "access denied errors" - maybe my network is special for Flowcode too

!
My working style is just as all others I think: Create a new project, save it again and again after changes is working as they are suppossed to. Use "Save as ..." when you had come to a "mile stone" and start the "step-by-step" process again - nothing special about that I think.
I don't think I can add more to help you solving these huge problems.
So now I'm just saving locally - but it's not good in the long run of cause - but I have to go on working and NOT get stuck in problems due to unexspected behavior of Flowcode using my equipment.
I'll let you know if there is any problems saving locally too - but it runs OK until now !

Please take the time to read that post. You will find that it is actually wholly different to your problem, so you do in fact remain unique. In fact, I did say to disregard that post as I realised that it was not applicable to you. And when you read that post, you will see that we worked with the customer to solve the problem.
ksor wrote:I don't think I can add more to help you solving these huge problems.
If you are unwilling to help track down this problem that is specific to your circumstances, then I am very limited in how I can help to solve it.
Finally, I find it very frustrating that all my attempts to assist you with this issue have been met with posts that border on hostility and rudeness. We at Matrix pride ourselves on the level of technical support we offer our customers and in the vast majority of cases I think we succeed in providing a great level of service. I'm sorry that in your case we seem to have failed.

Hi Steve/Ben
My posts are not at all "posts that border on hostility and rudeness" - my face just get so tired when I start up a learning process with so much problems and re-trying - and I think many user have it the same way ... without saying anything ... I'm just crying it out loud !
(Remember my first language is NOT english, so maybe I'm using the wrong words to express details - and more to remember - writen words is ALWAYS a little bit more hostyle than the writer means - what I just wrote is an example of my first "remembering")
But never mind ... we have to come further ....
I now starts a process witch I think is the way many users will start up using Flowcode - this "Step-By-Step" developing of a project and giving every new step a new file name (just a running number connected to the original name).
I work on a machine with XP fully updated and saving in a folder on another machine running Windows 7 fully updated.
When the program/project runs as supposed to in Flowcode, I save and compile to hex. The hex-file is burned in the HW using MPLAB.
If anything goes wrong I upload all prior files and the one witch failes - here you have the first couples and the txt-file from the compiling.
I don't have any C-code (not that I know of !) so I beleave the actual problem in fact IS the long path in the command line to the compiler/linker - so I copy the folder to the local machine to see if I can go on working.

It could be that you are refering to the network drive using UNC notation ("\\Medion2\..."). You could try mapping a network drive so you can refer to it as something like "Z:\..." instead. That may solve your problem.
