Flowcode for PIC, AVR or ARM for my project ?

Hello !

I already have flowcode for PIC. But I didn't for AVR or ARM.

I see in the help calculation properties that AVR and ARM have trigonometric functions but nothing for PIC micro.
I think I need this trigonometric function in the futur for some application around accelerometer sensor to compute inclinaison angle.

Do you think it's possible to compute this with pic micro or I have to use Atmel AVR or ARM7 ?

Thank you :)

Mathy

I think there have been some discussions on this forum about this somewhere - have you tried searching the forum?

Hello,

You can do trig with a PIC but the maths libraries for the PICs are not great to use. The best way of doing this is to use a pre calculated look up table. There are lots of example of doing this on the forum.

The AVR trig library is part of GCC and is quite good and AVR's also run around 4x faster then the equivalant PIC so they are a good option. They are also not much more complex then a PIC so they are a nice step up the microcontroller ladder. Again I would recommend a look up table with an AVR if speed of calculation is required.

ARMs are even faster and can do full 32-bit number processing instead of 8-bit so they will cope with trig calculations on the fly. These are however the most complex devices so troubleshooting and doing specific things can be more tricky.
