Hello,
i am a student and unfortunately a beginner working with flowcode and eblocks, but it is very important for a project.
I am using an Atmel8 16 PU, the EP019 – Atmel AVR Board and the EP005 – ECD Board, for programming FLowcode4
There are two questions:
• LCD Board:
I only try to start it and write a string and it does not work …. Unbelievable (it looks like activated but is only dark).
My settings:
- Data1 Port B Pin0
- Data2 PortB Pin1
- Data3 PortB Pin2
- Data3 PortB Pin3
- RS PortB Pin4
- Enable PortB Pin4
In flowcode i only use two macros for starting the LCD and write a String.
I don’t know what I am doing wrong??!
• Rs232
I try to make a simply connections between the programming board and the computer (Hyperterminal). I also use a “usb to uart – bridge” (pc don’t have a seriel interface) and I think there must be the problem, but don’t know why.
When I send a character it still reach the computer, but when I want to send a character from the computer to my processor, nothing is happening. I only use the macro “receivers232char (nTimeout=50)”.
(Boudrate = 9600, 1 Stopbit, External crystal with 20MHz)
I hope somebody is able to help me!

Any ideas please!?
Thanks Barny

Hello Barny,

My guess would be that your chip has the divide by 8 configuration setting enabled which means your device is running 8 times slower then you think it is. You can confirm this by connecting a LED to an output pin and trying a 1 second flasher program. To get around this you can change your clock speed in the View -> Proj options menu or you can change your configuration settings.

Another possible problem, if you have configured the device to use the external crystal oscillator, is that the EB019 is supplied with a 20MHz crystal and you appear to be using a 16MHz device.

You might need to change the crystal to allow it to be used by a 16MHz spec device.
