[solved] RS232 - Char receive type

I thought when you set "Char receive type" to "Int (extended data)" that if there was not a character available (timeout), the return value would be greater than 256? See attached please. This is running on an 18F4580. This fails on the simulator and the EB006.

This must be a simple mistake or misunderstanding.

Hello,

I'm unsure if the new return type is available on the simulator. This could explain the simulation issues. What happens when you send your program to the EB006?

Same thing. BTW - I have the RS232 board on Port C.

So I came home from school and re-tested and now no problems with the EB006...

Great thanks for letting us know, Was surprised when you said it was also happening on the EB006 because I know we gave the code a good test before releasing it.

It was strange to say the least and I was surprised that it was happening. Just glad that it isn't.

Operator malfunction ;) I think.
