Electrical installation & Locktronics
|In recent months, Matrix TSL have been working closely with Joe Robinson, of Joe Robinson Training. Joe produces educational videos covering the electrical science and principles areas of Electrical Installations qualifications from City & Guilds and EAL at Levels 1, 2 and 3.
We met Joe in his day job, as an experienced lecturer with Tresham College in Northamptonshire. Joe delivers training there for many enthusiastic students and was impressed by the range of electrical installation equipment Matrix have in their portfolio for teaching at levels 1 to 3. So much so, that the college agreed to invest in some kit, which would assist Joe in his delivery of teaching at the college. He was also assisted in this endeavour by a kind donation of an additional Locktronics kit covering electronics, this was donated by the E5 group who are an independent body trying to drive up standards and compliance awareness within the electrical industry.
Joe Robinson Training is a YouTube channel that was established to provide content to students, lecturers, enthusiasts and anyone with an interest in the areas of electrical installation being taught by Joe. Since acquiring the kit from Matrix TSL, Joe has been busy filming, editing and posting a number of videos, showcasing the benefits of the Locktronics range of solutions in teaching and training.
Videos produced so far, include:
What happens to a conductor in a magnetic field?
An introduction to three phase systems
How to perform AC to DC Rectification.

We spoke to Joe himself, who had this to say:
“Having worked with the Matrix Locktronics kits in two different places of employment I can heartily recommend them as a teaching aid. While they are invaluable for use in my YouTube videos the real appeal lies in using them in my classroom on a daily basis. I will often connect a camera to the big screen when teaching to show the Locktronics board and then explain step by step what is taking place inside the circuits we have built. This has a really positive impact on learning, much more so than just drawing it out on a board or by a slide presentation and learners will often express their appreciation for the increased level of understanding. I can honestly say that these kits bring electrical science and principles to life in a way that is hard to match with other visual aids.”
