Hi All,
There is an issue with the programmer EB006 Rev7 when used in conjunction with the USB232 eblock - Flowcode cannot obtain the CHIP ID when the USB232 eblock is powered from USB. Removing the USB cable from the USB232 eblock resolves the issue but the root cause is unknown so far - it is ...

Re: EB006 Rev7 USB power needed to run program?
I have had the same issue - i cannot ID the chip unless I remove power (ie. unplug its USB connection) from the USB232 E-Block. This is extremely annoying and also an intermittent problem.
I think that when the USB232 e-block is powered it will be asserting some of its IO pins (possibly RTS) - this ...

USART Problem - code works with 16F88 but not 18F4520
Hi All,
I have discovered an issue with Flowcode and the way it deals with the USART on the 18F4520.
If i compile working RS232 code for the 16F88 and talk to Hyperterminal (TX and RX) everything is fine but when the chip is changed to an 18F4520 (and the jumpers are set accordingly etc etc) the ...

Re: Triggering an event when specific string received via RS232
Hi Benj,
I now have the code working for the majority of the time and now understand it. I have discovered some problems however - these are with Flowcode not being able to get the chip ID when the USB232 E-Block is connected to a USB port as well as the programmer. As soon as the USB232 USB lead ...

Re: Triggering an event when specific string received via RS232
Hi Benj....It works on the 16F88 very well but no joy with the 18F4520 which is my ideal part to use
I will investigate further!

Re: Triggering an event when specific string received via RS232
Oh, before I get cracking with this - is there a chance it will not work with an 18F4520 or 4550?
I will of course try it on the 16F88 first.

Re: Triggering an event when specific string received via RS232
Thanks Benj - i did try printing the 'in_string' to the LCD and it did not look as expected. As i remember the first character was missing but i will need to confirm.
I do believe that this should be a simple task and I now understand your code - it just doesnt work for me! :-)

Re: Triggering an event when specific string received via RS232
Hi Ben, me again!
Still not working and would like to know some more info.
1. Can you let me know, for the 16F88, which jumper settings for the flow control I need to use on the USB<>serial board (EB039-00-1). If i am not using flow control do i need to connect RTS/CTS together?
2. Can I trouble ...

Re: Triggering an event when specific string received via RS232
Hi Ben,
I gave the new code a try but it still does not work all the time?
I forget to mention but I am using the EB039 USB<>UART converter block. I have also swapped my 18F4520 for a 16F88 (the one which came with the eblocks) so I have identical HW to you.

After looking at your file it has become apparent that I would not have stumbled upon the solution myself.
Thanks!

Re: Triggering an event when specific string received via RS232
Hi Ben,
Sorry but I am still struggling with this one - I have tried a number of options:
1. Reading the input from the serial port and converting to a char and then comparing this char to another in a decision box.

Re: Triggering an event when specific string received via RS232
Hello
The way to acheive this would be to use a string comparison or a series of them if you require muliple commands. The string comparison gives you a value of 0 if the strings are identical so you can then use a decision box to see if the variable is 0. If it is then you have received your ...
