16F88 (xtal-lvp) on V4
I tried to open a V3 program on V4. Target chip on V3 was 16f88 (xtal-lvp). V4 said some kind of error related to the 16f88 (xtal-lvp). How can I upgrade this V3 program to V4?

Hello
Ok that sounds odd would it be possible for you to either post the file up or sent to me via a PM so we can try and replicate the problem here.

Sure! This happens to be my working version of fading LEDs.
Incidentally, I wouldn't mind hearing your comments on the program itself.

Re: 16F88 (xtal-lvp) on V4
Hello Mimiyum
Ok I think I have spotted the problem. The FCD you were using in V3 was a legacy definition file leftover from V2. If you go into your program in V3 and switch the target device to a standard 16F88 then the program should then import across into V4 ok.
Your program looks nice and is a good start at creating your own PWM outputs. In your macros where you are shifting the values and using delays you could instead use a loop and increment / decrement the values using a calculation icon. This would make the macros a lot simpler for you to create and edit.
eg
Calculation:
GREEN = 255
While:
GREEN > 0
{
Calculation:
GREEN = GREEN - 1
Delay:
1ms
}
This way you could also fade in / out red green or blue seperatley

Re: 16F88 (xtal-lvp) on V4
Hi Benj,
I tried to change target chip to 16f88 on V3 and opened it on V4. I was able to open it. I configured the target chip and tried:
1. xtal
2. xtal and enabled LVP
3. autodetect
For your info, I'm using Vista SP1.
Upon compiling to chip on my HP-488 board, it simply says
Launching the compiler...
C:\Program Files\Matrix Multimedia\Flowcode V4\BoostC\boostc.pic16.flowcode.exe -v -t PIC16F88 "Fading LED-dec 20 2008 final-not xtallvp.c"
........................................................................................................................
Return code = 0
FINISHED
If all were ok, I would immediately see 3 LEDs light up. Just to test, I went back to V3 and was successful in compiling and making the 3 LEDs light up.
I may have done something wrong with the config.
By the way, thanks for the advise, I should really get back to this program and try to do that. I have been wanting to do it but at the time I did this program, we were still trying to determine the lowest point we can get without flickering. With this program, there is a slight flicker when a color fades out. Fortunately this is not noticeable for our current application (Underwater LED lighting for fountains).
I know that's a separate topic but I appreciate your inputs. Thanks very much!

Re: 16F88 (xtal-lvp) on V4
Hi Benj,
Ok...typical of all of us....after posting my earlier reply, I did some checking on compiler problems and came across this thread.
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/mmforum ... 481#p13846
I downloaded the zip file and tried to do compile to chip....VOILA! IT WORKS!!!
I wonder if you could have a particular site that posts fixes only prior to release of V4.1
I noticed that the various individual problems of others are very quickly given fixes that work right away such as the above. But if there was a site that gave a list of fixes that we could access, we would not have to post similar problems that were already fixed in the first place.
Personally, the first thing I did when I received V4 is to search for updates and fixes coz I wanted to download all those fixes first before trying anything. But since my version is "updated" I thought it was all ok already.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Bottomline...PROBLEM SOLVED! Thanks again to Benj and Matrix Multimedia support group!
