ds18s20 and ds18b20

Post by aerofrick »

Hi,

I am tiring to use ds18s20 or ds18b20 temperature sensor but I don't know a lot about it. I saw that it is in Flowcode, that it uses one wire communication and that there are already macros made for these sensors. But I heard that that macro setting is useful only if I use the right crystal (19660800 Hz). Is that true or have I heard wrong? This sensor is connected on any of the input pins if I am not mistaking or can it be connected only to RX pin pin?

Help appreciated

Jan

Hello Jan,

The OneWire component should work correctly with any clock speed.

You should be able to use the example files located in the V4 examples pack to get you started. This examples pack is available for download from the main Flowcode products page.

Yes the OneWire bus is bit banged so you can use any I/O pin. The only requirement is that you fit an external pull up resistor with a value around 5K.
