RC5 IR Eblock...

Post by Sparkoids »

Hi all,

If I set up the PIC10F to do the 36k PWM side of RC5 can I send an actual RC5 command via the enable line and the 10F does the modulation?

The reason I ask is I am unsure exactly what the device is doing.

Am I correct to think that I can send it the RC5/CMD "number" I want to transmit?

Otherwise what is the point of having two devices...

Best regards,

James :-}

Hello James,

Yes you can have the 10F device fitted to the board to generate the PWM and your main PIC micro can then simply switch the output signal on and off to enable or disable the outgoing modulated signal.

I have an example 10F program that has been tested here to be working to allow RC5 data to be sent out.

You could maybe set up a async serial connection to the 10F device using the TX_P_IN signal shown in the datasheet and send it serial data to get it to do all of the transmission. This has not been tested and may be too complex for a little 10F to handle.
