RS485

Post by fresh »

Hello @ all,
i have more than three boards with microcontroller.
One 16f877 with 14,745600 MHz Quarz
and two 16f88 with 4 MHz Quarz.
My Question, is it possible to connect this three boards via Rs485 and 9600baud
or must be all Microcontroller with the same value of Quarz to run the RS485?

Hello Andreas,

Yes you can connect all the devices together through a RS485 connection. The baud rate is calculated based on the clock speed so as long as the clock speed is defined correctly for each target they will all be able to communicate together one one single baud rate.
