Hello everyone,
I am trying to connect a PIC18F4450 to a PC and simply send a byte. I followed to USB made simple video (http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/lc_USB_made_simple.php). However I when I connect the chip to the USB, I windows 7 refers to it as an unknown device and does not accept the flowcode drivers. I believe the problem lies with the oscillator configurations that I am using. I am using a 40.000MHz oscillator and I have not made and changes to the config registers.
Can some one please advice me on what configuration should be used to achieve usb low speed connectivity.
I have attached the flowcode project I am experimenting
the following link shows the schematic that I have used, however I have dropped bootloader and reset buttons for simplicity and using a 40MHz crystal instead of 20MHz.

Hello,
To allow your device to work on the USB you need a crystal that can give you 48MHz. Therefore you need a crystal you can use with the PLL eg 4, 8, 12, 16 or 20MHz or you need a 48MHz crystal.
