Problems programming a pic18F14K22

Post by alb10811 »

Hi I'm trying to program at 18F14K22 pic. I've copied the definition file for the 18F14K22 to my Flowcode v4\FCD directory and installed the HiTech compiler and changed the required file paths and parameters as per the instructions given in the "Using the HiTech compiler article (viewtopic.php?f=26&t=6812). My program compiles without issue but I get the flowing error when trying to write to the chip;

"Could not ID the onboard chip - assuming it is the one specified in the configuration screen, i.e.PIC18F14K22" when I click ok I get
"PICmicro has not been erased. Continue?" When I click yes I get
"Programming failed: Scheme size is zero or negative"

I've tried using a PICkit3 programmer as well with pretty much the same result.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Amy

Hello Amy,

Here is a set of updated files for PPP.
PPP.zip
(1.19 MiB) Downloaded 290 times
Extract the files into your "C:\Program Files\Matrix Multimedia\Flowcode V4\Tools\PPP" folder.

I have also included a FCD for the device which can be placed into the "C:\Program Files\Matrix Multimedia\Flowcode V4\FCD" folder.
18F14K22.fcd
(11.87 KiB) Downloaded 306 times
PICkit 3 does seem to have issues, What programmer settings are you using in the compiler options window.

Hi Amy,

Those command line parameters for PPP look correct, did the updated files for PPP and the FCD work for you?

Hi David

No unfortunately I'm still encountering the same errors. I'll keep playing around and see if I can get it to work unless you can suggest anything else I should try.

Thanks

Amy

Hello Amy,

What if you use the PICkit 3 programming software.

PICkit 3 Stand Alone Programmer App V1.0 Windows
http://www.microchip.com/Microchip.WWW. ... ts=pickit3#

You should be able to select the 18F as the device family and then hopefully the PICkit should find your device. You will need to ensure that the jumper on the EB006 is in the ICD2 or ICSP position depending on your version of the EB006.

Regarding programming though PPP I will see if we have one of these chips and do some testing.
