Unabile to compile flowcode to hex or chip

Post by michaelflynn »

I am running flowcode v4 on vista. Flowcode has stopped compiling to hex and to chip. I get error code BoostC~2.exe has stopped working.

I have reinstalled Flowcode. It runs fine on another machine. I have tried installing into root directory as well a programme files.

Any ideas

Hi Michael,
This is only an idea and not a fact:
It could be an antivirus or firewall preventing Boostc from running?
Do you have a 3rd party firewall installed which you can place in training mode to allow FC to compile.
You could try placing Flowcode in the antivirus, firewall safe list.
Widows defender can also cause issues.

This may not be what the issue is, but maybe worth a try?

Martin.

Thank you

Sadly not the answer. I have tried with all firewalls off. Windows defender is off and I have tried with Mcafee switched off.

I know real time protection whether being antivirus, antispyware, or firewall has stopped some of my applications from working in the past so worth a try.

Only last thing I can suggest is going to add/remove programs in control panel, select Flowcode, and click repair. Or just reinstall.

Have you ever been able to compile or this is first time of using FC4?

If you have been able to compile, then has something changed that could be stopping program from working?
E.g some software just installed or updated?

If that don't work then i'm sure the experts at Matrix will be able to assist further.

Good luck & hope its resolved soon.

Thank you again. I have tried a complete reinstall and even clean it out of the registry. It has worked on this machine in the past. I suspect you are correct that something else is stopping it working but I cannot identify the issue.

Thanks for you help

Solution

I have identified the problem as being confined to programmes related to sourceboost software either supplied as part of the flowcode series of programmes of as a free standing sourceboot c ide. I do not know why it is only this suite of programmes of why it has recently occurred. I suspect upgrading in IE 8. I also have ahad a problem in failing to acivate a URL from excell. This is a problem with when google chrome is deleted. Sorting this out did not allow flowcode to complile.

The solution is to open control panel>system>system properies> advanced>
click on performance and then settings then performance options and finally data execution protection.
In this windows select turn on DEP for all programmes except those I select.
In the box enter all the programmes which won't run. in my case boostlink C, linker etc.

It all then runs perfectly.

hope this helps someone
