stepper feeder units.

Post by nuwan5213 »

hi all,
it is possible run three stepper motors in same time with differnt speeds.
i want to build three stepper motor feeders runing same time but i have to set there speeds manually.
can we use 16f877 for that project.

waiting any feedback.
regards.

Hi nuwan,
Yes I would say it should be possible to run 3 stepper motors at different speeds.
I'm not the stepper motor expert so I could be corrected.

I would thee count variables (one for each stepper) constantly counting.
and if three enable variables to enable/disable each stepper motor.
I an going to be posing a tutorial on using one byte variable to independently enable/disable 8 LEDs that method can be used to save rom space.
No need to do that with V5 since a Bol (1bit) type variables are available.

The way the 3 stepper motors could be controlled at different speed is have the counts incrementing at a faster rate of the stepper running at the fastest
speed.
You will need to alter delay to achieve this.

Then:
If Enable_stepper1=1 && count1>=2 :count1=0: Then Increment Step//Stepper running at fastest speed.
If Enable_stepper2=1 && count2>=5 :count2=0: Increment Step//Stepper running at medium speed.
If Enable_stepper3=1 &&count3>=8 :count3=0: Increment Step//Stepper running at slowest speed.
count1=count1+1: count2=count2+1: count3=count3+1

Press key1 or number pad1 of keyboard to control stepper1, key2 or number pad2 to control stepper2, & key3 or number pad3 to control stepper3,

There maybe better method, but with clearing a flat with little help by tomorrow, time is against me :(

Here is another version which is using timer0 interrupt to control steppers. Using that method you can then add LCD and other routines, and speed of steppers should not be affected.

If you want help to determine correct settings for timer0,
if you can let me know the required delays of stepper motors,
I can then alter flowchart to suit.

hi medelec,

thanks for your grate support.
ok then,
i have to adjust speed using 3 no's of ADC s.or ,
runing three steppers same speed but different time lenths.
my idea is feeding three numbers of garment tags to ultrasonic sealing machine and weld using that.
regards ,
nuwan..
thanks again.................................. :D
