LIN with ECIO 40 and CAN

Post by Jay Dee »

Hi guys,
Using FC5 and an ECIO 40P
I would like to add LIN to an existing project which uses an ECIO 40P and external CAN controller on SPI.
I'm just looking at available pins and seeing if it is possible.

Checking the component's connections screen and all 5 LIN connections need to be on the same PORT.

The ECIO 40P has the EUSART RX TX pins on Port C.
Is it possible to use any other port? Since my Port C is pretty loaded already. RC4 and RC5 for the USB comms, The two CCP pins used for Frequency input/output and RC& is used for the SPI SDO.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
John.

Hi John,

As far as I am aware the LIN component in Flowcode is entirely software based and therefore you do not need to assign the connections to PortC. I seem to remember PortA worked well with the LIN E-blocks.

The CAN uses hardware SPI by default but if you wish you should be able to switch it to software mode using the instructions available from here. Obviously exchanging the CAN component for the gLCD component.

OK thanks Ben, I'll jam a LIN chip on the next board and give it a go.
John.
