When using the ECIO28 which is a 18F2455 based device why are some on the outputs on Port C not available please or is the chip graphic incorrect?
Something is wrong here because the graphic does not follow the actual chip layout...

Re: PIC 18F2455 Differences With ECIO28....
Yes, of course ECIO-28 is made up of PIC18f2455; but that is a custom made board and the pin-out shows in Flowcode is the way the pins are arranged in the layout of the board. Like, MCLR is shown at pin3 although it is in pin1 in main chip. As you don't get the access to the pins of the main pins if you connect MCLR to PIN3 of the ECIO-28 board you will actually connect to PIN1 of the chip which is done in pcb. When using the ECIO28 which is a 18F2455 based device why are some on the outputs on Port C not available please or is the chip graphic incorrect?
you are right some pins of PORTC are not available at ECIO-28 and that's right because those have been used for some dedicated purpose in the board so didn't give option to the user to use those pin in Flowcode which is done intentionally (not by mistake).
obviously..it doesn't follow the graphics of the main chip but those pins which are available to connect are really connected to the right pins of micocontroller.Something is wrong here because the graphic does not follow the actual chip layout...

I understand that to make it compatible it needs variation but on the chip for example Pin 15 is shown as RC4 on the Microchip datasheet but on Flowcode it is shown as RC0 and it's just confusing me somewhat!

Actually while working with ECIO-28 or 40 you can simply ignore datasheet as that is done in the pcb..but you have to follow what Flowcode is saying.but on the chip for example Pin 15 is shown as RC4 on the Microchip datasheet but on Flowcode it is shown as RC0 and it's just confusing me somewhat!

What you are seeing is not the chip. It is the module. So pin 15 on the module is RC0. You should not think of it as a 18F2455 with regards to the pins.Sparkoids wrote:I understand that to make it compatible it needs variation but on the chip for example Pin 15 is shown as RC4 on the Microchip datasheet but on Flowcode it is shown as RC0 and it's just confusing me somewhat!

Hello,
The ECIO devices are meant to be compatible with each other i.e. a standard footprint across the 28P the 40P and the Arm.
The ECIO devices are not meant to be pin compatible with the standard raw chip in any way.
Some of the I/O on portc is not brought out for the user to use because it is already being used for a specific function, in most cases the USB reprogrammability and data connection.
