Cant get ICD working

Post by steve_h »

Just bought the V5 professional, EB006 with the flowkit also.
I managed to get the ICD going once with the PIC16F88 as supplied but nothing else.
I created a program to pulse an led with a delay then off again, The 1HZ program. which did work once.

Every time I try to use the ICD I get "The program in the chip is out of date.please re-compile your flowchart and send it to the chip." So I do this. The compiler message tells me that its finished and it looks good.

I start the single step icon again and it goes back to the previous error saying out of date.

I have installed-uninstalled- reboot- changed chip- checked psu, all to n avail.

Also tried with the flowkit with no luck whatsoever .

Ive been writing PIC code for years and now im stumped..any guy got any tips,

Win7, ver V5.5 up to date, and fed up

Hi steve,
Welcome to the forums
If you can post your Flowchart, I can take a look and see if it looks ok or not.

Hi Steve,
No problem.
Not sure if attached file file will work?
I was expecting to see 16F88 a chip i'm more familiar with.

I would put issue down to a possible configuration or hardware settings.

It's advisable to always run a 1Hz flasher for every target device, just to make sure necessary configuration settings are correct in order for hardware to run at correct speed.

Would you mind signing up for V5 forums please.
Here is a link:

After you have signed up, it all allow to post in V5 section.
That should give you better support.

Hi MArtin,

Ive signed up with the V5 forum now.

back to the ICD problem.

I have had the flowcode working and compiled and it has worked on the board, but I 98 percent of the time get an ICD error cannot communicate with the device.
I suspect the config bits are correct as I have checked many times over.

hope this helps

Steve

I have tried the following.

Programming a 18F242 on an EB006 will program but no debug, message saying cannot communicate with ICD.

also
Programming a 18F242 via flowkit produces a USB error and of course wont program or debug.
PIC is healthy as i can program using PICKITS.

any advice greatful
