PIC18F25K22 wont program

Post by steve_h »

Hi All

I have done a 1HZ flasher to prove that things work OK.

compiled and it works on FLOWCODE,

It WONT PROGRAM ON A EB006 board but it will program when I import into MPLAB and program it via ICSP using PICKIT3.
THE PROGRAMS WORKS OK AND THE LED FLASHES OK

I THEN UNPLUG THE PICKIT3 AND PLUG IT INTO THE EB006 BOARD WITH THE ICSP PINS MOVED, AND IT WILL NOT PROGRAM.
THE PICKIT3 CANNOT SEE THE DEVICE FOR SOME REASON..

I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THE EB006 -00-8 COULD BE USED TO PROGRAM THE 18F25K22, AM I WRONG.
IT IS SELECTABLE IN THE SELECT TARGET OPTION.
I GET A MESSAGE SAYING COULD NOT ID THE ONBOARD CHIP

I HAVE THE ICD MODULE ASWELL AND I HAVENT EVEN GOT THAT GOING YET,

HAVE ANY OF YOU GOT IDEAS

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

First of all, could you please stop writing in capitals?

To answer you question, have you checked the supported devices listed in the EB-006-30-8 manual? Page 5 has all supported devices listed. Also if you search the forum you will find:
Benj wrote: The K22 devices are not currently supported using PPP we are looking into this. For now you should be able to reprogram them by using a PICkit and the PICkit header on the board.

thank you for the advice, but not sure why the capital letters is a issue,,,

I have tried the following.

Programming a 18F242 on an EB006 will program but no debug, message saying cannot communicate with ICD.

also
Programming a 18F242 via flowkit produces a USB error and of course wont program or debug.
PIC is healthy as i can program using PICKITS.

any advice greatful

Because it is harder to read. Also excessive capitals are interpreted as shouting. There is a nice wikipedia article on the subject. (Yes I know you text was not all capitals, but over two thirds was)

Now I am confused. According to your subject you are having issues with the 18f25k22. Are you mixing messages with this posting on ICD issues?

Flowkit is a debugger, not a programmer.

Hi

changed to pic18F242 as this is a supported chip..

Using the flowkit in PROG mode, I try to program the PIC18F242, and it gives me an error saying cant detect USB..

When i put the flowkit into ICD mode it says cannot communicate with the ICD.

I do understand that the flowkit is not a programmer but i am trying all options as nothing seems to work.

previous attempts let me program/debug 16F88 only using EB006 but never on the flowkit.

thank you for your postings btw.

Are you still using EB006? If so, EB006 version 7 and newer has ICD built in and does not require Flowkit. If not, to which port pins have you connected Flowkit?

Hi,

I bought both the flowkit and the EB006-00-8 both together as it was told to me that i needed the FLOWKIT if i wanted to debug by single stepping etc..

I assume i have version 8????? as per serial number????

Using only the EB006 to program,, the PIC18f242 appears to program up ok but will not go into debug mode..
ie press run or use single step icon

flowcode displays

"ICD failed to communicate with the target.
make sure the target is powered correctly , reset it and try again."

info: powered from a 14.0 bench PSU
tried XT config RC config

Nothing !!

when trying with the flowkit - I use port B.. but still that doesn't work either.

any ideas,
Thanks in advance

EB006-00-8 is version 8. It includes the debugging option.

You have tried the 1 second flasher and it works without problems and the timing is correct? (Debugger requires the clock speed setting in the project options and the oscillator settings to be correct to work)
