Wireless Network

Post by gumilard »

Hi,

guys, I want to build a wireless network for a building at least 250m range.
here is my goal... I want to build one master with multiple slave..
Master will transfer all the information to whole of slave while slave is only "listening".
the problem is I don't know how I must start..
what e-block should I used? will the EB RF 433 suitable for my application?
I want to build them with pic micro. any other idea is welcome

appreciate for the answer :D

thanks,

Hello,

Zigbee might be a good solution for you as it is a mesh based network i.e. each node can act as a re-transmitter to extend the range of the network. ZIgbee however is designed for low data throughput, what kind of data bandwidth are you after?

Not sure for this, but I hope I can send at least a switch on/off command and some additional time code like hh:mm:ss through to all slaves :!:

Hello,

Zigbee was basically designed for switching things on and off and works in a way that a message is bounced around until all nodes have received it. Sounds like it might be ideal for what you want.

Morning,

You could have a look at xbee stuff there are quite a lot of breakout boards about

Data sheet is here couldn't upload as too large

http://ftp1.digi.com/support/documentat ... 0976_G.pdf

http://www.digi.com/support/productdetail?pid=4549

Features of XBee Pro 63mW Wire Antenna - Series 2B (ZigBee Mesh)

https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10421

3.3V @ 295mA
250kbps Max data rate
63mW output (+17dBm)
1 mile (1600m) range
Wire Antenna
Fully FCC certified
6 10-bit ADC input pins
8 digital IO pins
128-bit encryption
Local or over-air configuration
AT or API command set

Just be aware there is compatibility issues between the series ie series 1 will not talk to a series 2 or 2b and visa vera

this book : - Building Wireless Sensor Networks is quite good
