PIC32MZ2048EFG100 Peripheral Pin Select (PPS) Pin missing

Post by stefan.erni »

I use the PIC32MZ2048EFG100.
I need a lot of SPI and Uart. This has 6 of each.
and the hardware has "remaple Pins"

for example:
If I like to use Uart1,
FC7 is very nice, I can choose in a menue which pin is remaped for RX1 or TX1.

But it shows me not all possible Pins. Only 10 or on the SPI only 27
Actually, the PIC has 51 remaple Pins.

Is there a limitation, where I do not know, or just some are missing?

Peripheral Pin Select (PPS)
1AVAILABLE PINS
The number of available pins is dependent on the
particular device and its pin count. Pins that support the
PPS feature include the designation “RPn” in their full
pin designation, where “RP” designates a remappable
peripheral and “n” is the remappable port number.

Hello,

If you look at the datasheet, specifically the table in section 12.4 - Table 12-2 Inputs (page 251) and Table 12-3 Outputs (page 254) then you can see which pins can be used with each peripheral. The 16-bit and 8-bit PIC devices can generally use any of the RP pins. The PIC32 devices are a bit different and similar to ST ARM where peripherals are arranged into remappable banks which limits your options considerably.

Hopefully Flowcode should reflect the remappable pin selections in the tables.

Hi Ben

It is really good to program with flowcode. Otherwise I would have done my board wrong.
Unfortunately you are right. It is not possible with the Pic32 all functions on all PPS pin to map.
I've only dreamed of it because of the video from Microchip about Peripheral Pin Select.
Also a pity from Microchip. The PIC32MZ2048EFG100 is not in the Microchip MCC lib.
But an another Pic32 is and You can see the big limitation:

Hi Ben

A little update to the post about Pins...
The PIC32MZ2048EFG100 is in the Microchip Harmony V2_04 included.
With this is it confortable to config all the pins.
In the Microchip Harmony V2_04 is also a usefull clock config tool.
