Re: Help with Motor Position-er please
Hi Stu
The alternator is quite quick to test and if you use a scotchlok (sorry for swearing) you can remove it and connect properly if it works(but please dont use one for a permanent connection)
my renault camper was fine using a relay from the charge bulb, but when tried on a convoy it wouldn't work . so just connect in pinch a relay from your car and try it heres a link
http://www.marcleleisure.co.uk/Sund001/ ... arge01.htm .
although thinking about it you could always just have a large delay at the beginning of your program and switch a relay from the pic to switch the actuator motor power. if you're worried about playing with alternators then the second option would probably be fine,, have you got a wiring diagram of the mower
so many ways to do something

Re: Help with Motor Position-er please
Hi Dazzz,
I think if you wanted to interface the alternator you would have to do something like this really:
http://mk1ultra.com/mods/w_terminal.html
EDIT: Although this would work for standard car alternators, this is a Honda engine and is more like a motorcycle engine where all the alternator wires are internal and also there is no charging light on the dash.
thanks
Stuart

Re: Help with Motor Position-er please
Hi Stu
had a fiddle using a keypad and added an spi component to drive a dac for positioning, you can replace the spi with whatever your using just change the code etc
this is the way i would probably go, but theres many ways to skin a cat , and my chart could probably be made smaller by tightening up on the coding etc
sorry for the panel colours , its the only combination i find easy on my eyes
Regards

Re: Help with Motor Position-er please
Hi Dazz,
Thanks for the PDF's, and I have had a look at your chart but I am not familiar with DAC and SPI , the h-bridge that I ordered is coming from china so it will take a while to get here, I think it will be easier to get the motor and control unit on the bench so I can see what is going on, thanks for all your help so far...
cheers

Re: Help with Motor Position-er please
Hi Dazz,
I have started again without the memory, and the first bit of the code is supposed to return the cutting deck to Home position and then show the position on the LCD but it dosen't seem to get passed the first loop for some reason...
Thanks
Acestu

Re: Help with Motor Position-er please
Hi Stu
What was happening was your loop never ended as you had until which would require a count somewhere, i changed it to loop 80 times etc
I have also removed one section of code and added more into the switch icon which in turn allows you to do without the macros, one last change is home is now position 9 as a count of 10 resets to zero
Regards

Re: Help with Motor Position-er please
Hi Dazz,
I have started from the beginning and this is the loop that keeps looping, basically if I simulate this chart and turn the adc pot up and down the LEDS come on around 32, I know this is in percent and not 0-255 but when I get to the equivelent of 80 surely this loop should end and print the Height number in the LCD ?
Thanks
Stuart

Re: Help with Motor Position-er please
Hi Stu
I changed it to 81 and it works perfectly, with my mouse i can get the slider to 79 or 81 but it never gets to 80
run the sim at about 50 let it sim for a few seconds the right click the sensor variable and change it to 80 you will see your program goes into the 80 branch once, so it does work

Hi Stu
glad you can go onto the next bit
seeing as you have 9 positions try to keep the number 10 for the reset to 0 , makes it tidier and easier to follow

Re: Help with Motor Position-er please
Hi Dazz
I have ordered a 12 volt motor with gearbox 5mm shaft, so I can get some hardware on the bench and test the code, I just need to find some screw on gears from somewhere so that I can connect a 10k pot to the motor, I have had a good look on the net but can't find anything in the uk, if you know of anywhere could you let me know please....
cheers

Hi Stu
ring these guys
CHESHIRE MODELS 01625 511 646
try other model shops in your area
or if you can only get a 4mm one which has some meat on the flange, then drill out to 4.9mm and that will be a press fit
