serial versus parallel lcd

Post by brandonb »

it takes around 60m/s to update a parallel lcd in some programs, are the one wire serial lcds faster or slower when compared side by side? im looking for a solution that would be less than 8m/s to update multiple items on a two by 16 display

Hi Brand
In general, any parallel transmition line is faster than a serial one. I haven't study LCDs so deep, so i can't confirm you about their response speed.

Hello,

One way to speed this up would be to use a second microcontroller connected to the parallel display. Then connect the microcontrollers together using a UART or similar to transfer data at high speed.

Using Flowcode the UART is controlled via the RS232 component.

Otherwise a UART is also fairly simple to control using C and there should be lots of examples available online.
