Cable Not connected HP 488

Post by jollybv »

Hi Guys

I am having a bit of a problem programming my Pic's I keep getting Timeout- configuration change has been canceled the strange thing is that if I go into the pppv3 and view PICmicro I can see the code of an already programmed PIC. If I go into Chip / Configure /Switch to expert Screen and click on Auto-detect PICmicro it detect the pic PIC16F886 I'm not sure where to go from here

:?

Hi,
You said HP488 can detect your chip which is connected on board..it's fine then. If you want to write ic with your new code you can just select chip>compile to chip.

New program should be compiled and written into chip. Although it seems to me that I don't understand your problem clearly.

It sounds strange..I have never faced this kind of problem..Do you have antivirus installed in your machines?

Is that true for simplest program like LED flashing which should be written in few seconds? If so, please think about your OS.

15 minutes for programming is very strange, it should be a seconds for a simple flasher, please try as Enamul suggested, a simple flashing program and let us know how long it takes.

If it is still taking a long time please try without other non-essential USB devices connected.

Hello,

The PPP configuration window times out after about 15 mins I wonder if the compiler options have become a little muddled on your PC.

Try clicking on Chip -> Compiler options and then clicking the restore defaults button.

If this doesn't work then maybe try an uninstall and reinstall to see if this fixes the issue.

Hi Ben

I have uninstalled and re installed still no luck it is still taking very long to program it is doing the same on my laptop to so i don't think it is the operating system could it maybe be PPP firmware chip on the HP 488 board just dose not make sense that 2 machines will do exactly the same :? I have noticed that it is taking its time in the (starting preprocessor) it seams it take forever there it goes 2 & Half lines of ................................................ before it starts to program the chip this takes about 9 minutes what could the problem be ??? could i send you my program and you see if it is the problem??
