Simulation using com ports

Post by CeesD »

I want to run Flowcode-6 simulations on my pc using two com-ports (usb). One to connect a GPS receiver sending NMEA messages into the simulation program, and the other one connected to a (GSM/GPRS, using AT commands) modem to send simulation output data to another system.

I started with loading "GPS_test2.fcf" from the Wiki page called "Component: Injector (GPS NMEA) (Simulation)". Next I changed for the GPS component the Data Source property from 'data injector' to 'COM Port', and the property 'Com port' from 'InjectorGPS1' to the proper com port, where the GPS receiver was connected to (baudrate 4800 bps).

I expected to read now in the simulated LCD display the (varying) NMEA lattitude, coming in (I tested already with Putty that the NMEA strings indeed were coming in). But this did not happen, as it kept displaying the lattitude as specified in the InjectorGPS1 property list.

What should I do to get it working?

Herewith I send you the program GPS_test2.fcfx
It is from the http://www.flowcode.co.uk Wiki page called "Component: Injector (GPS NMEA) (Simulation)".

Hello,

This should work fine but just to be sure I have removed the injector component from the program so it can no longer provide it's data. You will need to ensure the COM port property of the GPS component is set correctly for your hardware but then it should work as expected. The console window can be used to sanity check if there is data coming in via the COM port.

Let me know how you get on.
