Quad Encoder reading

In V6, how is quadrature encoder reading implemented?
Some of Pics /DSPics has hardware encoder input channel?
Does it use its internal registers?

Hello,

The encoder components rely on calling a sample macro to check the state of the two signals from the encoder. We do not rely on internal hardware to drive this as it is fairly simple and will run on every target.

If the sample macro is triggered with a PORT change interrupt or high speed timer interrupt then you should never miss a pulse.
