ILI9341 Bug?

Post by Dave9875 »

I'm using the PLC PLDuino that has the Mega 2560 micro. It has a built in display using the ILI9341 driver. http://www.digital-loggers.com/plchw.html . I was able to get it working but it is extremely slow, when I tell it to fill the screen with a color it will do it but it stops at about 75% and the rest of the screen will remain gray (backlight on only), it takes about 2 to 3 seconds to complete the 75% fill. Also the text orientation does not seem correct, I can move it with the orientation property but I can never get it where I think it should be, top left hand upper corner. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the setup in the PLDuino, as a test I used Visuino to test the display and it is working good and it is a lot faster. If I can provide any more information, picture or setup I'll be happy to do it.

Thanks,
DavidL

Hi David,

Please can you post the Flowcode project and we will investigate for you.

Did you change the pixel dimension properties for the component to correctly match your display?

It might also be worth trying to swap the height and width properties to see if this helps. The display might be physically on it's side.

Thanks Benj,

Tonight I'll post the project and send you the resulting images.
I did try to flip the orientation, I don't remember the results, only that it didn't go well.
I also played with the dimension properties and could get it to fill the whole screen (slowly) with color
but the text "255" that I printed at location 0,0 was no longer on the visible screen.
I will put together different tests for you and show you the results.

Thanks for your time,
DavidL

Hi Benj,

I ran low on time today, I'll try to get the test data uploaded tomorrow. :/

Hello Benj,
Please see the attached project images.
The simulation works as expected.
Picture 1 is the result of the simulation and picture 2 is the result on the PLC, Orientation = 0.
Picture 3 is the result of the simulation and picture 4 is the result on the PLC, Orientation = 1.
Picture 5 is the result of the simulation and picture 6 is the result on the PLC, Orientation = 3.

When Orientation = 2 the PLC dose not display the 255.
Picture 7 is the result of the simulation and picture 8 is the result on the PLC, Orientation = 2.

Thanks for your time,
DavidL

Hello Benj,

Have you had time to look into this issue?
To collect more data I was going code this through the Arduino IDE and
use the Adafruit library to talk to this display. I hope to get to this over the weekend.

Thanks,
DavidL
