Solved! Please help, limited string length in GSM component

Post by tiny »

I am using FC 7.2, dsPIC33 ECIO with SIM900 module. I would like to send status and warning messages from my pool control via email, since SMS is limited to 160 characters. After I have expanded the control, I see that mail texts (body) longer than 250 characters are not sent.
With SIM900 and terminal emulator there is no problems with the text length.
Perhaps it is the same problem as it was with the UART (RS232) component.

It would be nice if someone could help me!

Kind regards
Christina

Hi Christina,
Which GSM component macro are you having problems with, is it SendTextMessage?

Thanks for the answer!
No, the problem occurs when sending emails. Here I use "SendCommand".
GSM1 :: SendCommand Body
GSM1 :: SendCommand ("AT + SMTPSEND")
Here only 240 bytes work, longer texts are not sent.
A shortened status report with 236 bytes works, but the complete status report currently contains 760 bytes.
Since an SMS only allows 160 bytes, there are no problems.

OK. Please try the attached replacement component. Drop it into your Flowcode components directory.
If you want to keep a backup copy of the existing GSM.fcpx, then move it to a separate directory, do not just rename it.
