I see there is a CAN1 and a CAN2 component, there is no explanation I can find detailing what the difference between these 2 components - I can guess ... CAN2 has extended addressing support, but I would have though each component macro would have had a component macro specification defining what it is and what it does....
Following on there is no information on what the Macros are or do, again it is possible to have a bit of a guess, Is this the way to go
I would have expected again some detail stating what the macro is designed to do, what can be passed including limits and what is returned ( and I do not just mean types, i.e. byte passed and byte returned ).
example: CAN2: "GetRxExtIDAsFull" -> Passed Index(BYTE), return value:(BYTE) ..... what is this supposed to mean ? there is no definition of the meaning of the byte, the total range of values in the return and what they mean, some other macros look like status returns, so I guess there is success, fail ( fail type 1, 2, 3.....n depending on the possible reasons for failure someone may have coded).
I can see I pass a type byte and I will get a type byte back not sure what these bytes mean, given that I guess this is something to do with an ExtendedID CAN Frame ID which is 29 bits long, what is the return byte referring to. "GetRxExtID" has idenitical definition.
This applies to virtually all of the CAN macros ( not sure about other components yet, but I guess the same ). Some are a little more easier to guess what is going on, but again assumptions are made - the source of probably a decent chunk of errors and rework in developments
I guess that this would normally be covered by EB744 unofficial course notes, but as these notes were written before CAN2 existed, then this probably explains the missing info.
I have tried help and hitting the ? but it just takes you to a generic component macro help page not really giving any detail.
Sorry this sounds like such a whinge

Mark
