How to input / output data in Flowcode V4

Hi, I am very new to Flowcode. I have managed to increment values and display them onto the lcd but I cannot do anything else with them. I need to be able to input the data and then output it etc but I cant and I am getting very frustrated. I am sorry if I am wasting your time but please can someone give me an idiots example of how I can input data and then output it again.
