Compiler keeps going and going and going - Resolved

Post by acestu »

Hi,

Has anybody come across this, when I try to compile chart to Hex or compile to chip, the compiler starts and the dots just keep going and going across the screen until you get bored and have to press the cancel button.....

EDIT: Getting this error now

Re: Compiler keeps going and going and going

Post by JonnyW »

Hi. Have you successfully compiled before and it has suddenly stopped working, or has this always happened?

Does it do this with a simple (i.e. empty) project, or any chip, or is it a specific program or chip?

Does this happen consistently, or is it only occasionally?

Cheers for any answers,

Jonny

Hi Jonny,

Over the past few days this has happened occasionally whilst trying to program chip, I have then tried again and it has worked but this time I can not get it to work, even just rebooted pc twice and tried again but no luck, I am going to post the chart so somebody else can try and compile to Hex or chip, you will have to install Benj's Visi Component first though, the chart is not complex I had only just started it...

Hi Jonny,

I have just made a simple chart with a switch and a lamp and it will not compile it seems nothing will now compile, one thing I noticed tonight when I started using Flowcode was when it was starting up a box came up saying that I only had 5 days left on my temporary key, could this be connected ?

That's exactly what I said to Jonny a few minutes ago.
Only just read this.

How strange!

Hi. It will be annoying if that is the issue - I don't see why the protection should be playing about with launching apps like that, but never know. You are both right - it is a coincidence...

I'll take a look at a protected version of Flowcode tomorrow. Can't be releasing patches that don;t compile. Out of interest, what about the other platforms (PIC16, AVR, ARM)? Is it just BoostC?

Hi,

I have just made a chart in ARM and it compiled lightning fast, I must say all the sucsesful pic compiling that I have done in FC6 has taken a lot longer than in FC5, I don't know if that is normal, but it still seems boostc is broken now because no pic projects will compile.... :(

P.S. I will try other platforms now

I also tried a different much simpler Flowchart that I know worked a couple of days ago.
Now it does not compile. You can tell from the shrinking bar at the bottom that compiler keeps compiling.

PIC16, ARM, AVR Does not suffer from the continuous compiling issue.

Update:
I set my laptop date back to the 26th of Aug.
Ran Flowcode and the 5 day message did not appear.
Created a new PIC flowchart, and it compiled as normal
Closed Flowcode, set date to today.
Ran Flowcode, 5 day message appeared.
Flowchart no longer compiles.
So now the same on my main 64bit win as the 32bit win laptop.
Stronger evidence that 5 day message is causing a compiler issue.

Hi,

Anybody reading this thread it seems like the 5 day warning at Flowcode startup is causing problems when compiling pic devices, Matrix have said that they are working to fix this ASAP...

Hello,

This should be fixed in the new patchset which should be available in the next hour or so. Just putting it all together now.
