By means of a PIC16F1847 microchip and Flowcode 7 a pulse of about 100A during 100usec prevents sulphatation of the Lead-acid batteries. The repetition rate is 30 seconds.
A second use of this setup is to measure the quality of each battery in the range from 0-30Volt. The idea is simple, measure the loss on terminal voltage and the current during the current pulse and the internal resistance Ri can be calculated by:
Ri = (V0-Vt)/I, with Vo the terminal voltage without shunt and Vt with shunt (Rshunt=50 mOhm). Knowing the shunt resistance and measure the voltage difference over this shunt will give the current I:
I= (Vhigh-Vlow)/Rshunt and thus Ri= Rshunt x (V0-Vt)/(Vhigh-Vlow)
This has been published these days in Elektor (March/April number 2017, see below [1] and [2].
During the pulse, 3 voltages should be measured, Vt, Vhigh and Vlow. The Flowcode 7 standard macros for these 3 ADC's were to long. A remarkable reducing of time was possible to write the 3 ADC measurements in C. Please find a short, special Flowcode article attached here. The Flowcode attached is only the part of the ADC procedures.
With kind regards
