Minimise 2D panel

Post by chipfryer27 »

Hi

I frequently use a laptop when using Flowcode, which means screen area is tight. Would it be possible to add a "Minimise" button beside the "Close" button on the 2D / 3D panel views?

I frequently need to get rid of the panel by closing, to allow me to do / view other stuff, only to reopen it shortly after. Being able to minimise would be a great help.

Thanks for the suggestion. It might actually be quite tricky to implement that with the way things currently work behind the scenes.

The "close" is essentially a "minimise" anyway and so perhaps what you are wanting is an easier way to re-open a closed/minimised panel window.

Have you looked at the "Windows" menu? You can set up alternative views and then switch between the two using ctrl-1, etc. That might give you what you need.

Hi

Just tried and maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I have the 2D floating and opened the Windows Menu. I then clicked Manage Layouts, highlighted the first available and clicked save current before closing.

If I then close the 2D panel, I can navigate around, and when I click ctrl-1 the 2D does pop back up. However I can't actually interact with it. I cannot click anything in it nor move it, with windows playing an alert sound any time I try.

To regain control I need to renter Windows Menu and delete the layout. This then allows normal operation.

I'm using W11.

I've checked and that appears to be a bug. I'm not sure I'll have time to fix that before the next release of Flowcode but I will have a quick look to see what's going wrong and will fix if possible.

Personally, I use the Panels tab of Project Explorer to open and close the panels (double-click changes whether they are shown or not).

An alternative is to dock the window to the main Flowcode window (right-click and select 'docking') and make it as narrow as practical. Then you can double-click its top-bar (just to the left of its drop-down arrow) to maximise/float. Double-clicking its top-bar again will re-dock it so it is narrow on the main window again. Not ideal I know, but might be an acceptable workaround for now.

Hi Steve

On my laptop (or pad), docking isn't ideal ergo my request to "minimise", but I never thought on the panel. I usually have Explorer open so that is a bit easier than having to go through View. Good suggestion.
