TM1637 4-Digit Display Minor Bug

Post by chipfryer27 »

Hi

I have found two minor bugs with the 4-Digit TM1637 component.

The first bug is with the Set Brightness macro. This macro allows you to set the brightness (0-7) and switch the display On or Off. The component states that to switch the display On to use the value of "1". However in my tests I found that I had to use "0" to switch it On.

The second bug is with the Show Digits macro. This allows you to set the value of individual digits and also to set the colon. Setting the colon does not work whilst simulating but it does work in actual hardware.

Hi Iain.
There are two types of the display 2D and 3D.
Which one are you referring to and are both issues simulation or just Show Digits macro?

Hi Martin

The "7Segment (Quad TM1637) [2D]" component. It is the one without keypad inputs.

Thanks Iain.
Are both reports for simulation, or only 1?
I fixed issues with simulation as it never used to simulate changes in brightness.
Just so it crystal clear what is the component ID?
You can select help and copy from the wiki e.g. ID e6bd0a57 6bf2 42bb b05e 6b6cdad2ce0e.
Or can you post an example project that shows he bugs you are reporting?

I probably won't be fixing this, but I wanted to get information for someone who is going to take a look and get it fixed if required.

Hi Martin

Deleted the project but the component ID copied from Help / WiKi is

(Redirected from Component: ID e6bd0a57 6bf2 42bb b05e 6b6cdad2ce0e)

The colon does not work in simulation but does on hardware.

The On / Off properties seem to be reversed as I have to send "0" to switch the display On and "1" to switch Off in hardware. The macro documentation says "1" for On and "0" for Off.

Minor bugs I know, but the On / Off could lead to a bit of confusion.

Just had a quick look and the colon issue is easy to fix.
Looking at the source code logicly I can't see how its wrong.
If I get a chance, and Ben has not fixed the component, I will find my TM1637 and test it out.

I have attached the modified component If you want to have a play with the simulation side.
Not yet checked the reported brightness issue.

Hi Martin

In simulation the colon now works.

Not tried On / Off in Hardware yet, but will later.

I have not touched on/off part.
Looking for my hardware to observe what happens for me, then I see what I can do about it.
