Hi !

After discovering that some of the display not working in FC9 I have made test´s with all the kind of different display I have.


ILI9488 SPI with ESP32 not working?

ST8879 not working?

ILI9341 SPI with ESP32. Perfect
SSD1331 Working fine.

The PDC8544 Nokia 5110 not working in FC9, ok in FC8. With FC9 I see contact with the display, but no text. Maybe after new opportunities with
font´s ?

I know this is a lot , but please, when they but when available in FC9 it would be nice they working, please.

Hi Jorgen,

For the Nokia display are your print coordinates correct, they seem to be off the display in Y. Took me a while to spot but couldn't see any problems in the underlying component code compared with v8.

As for the ILI9488 ST8879 components, I'll investigate did you try other hardware than ESP to see if it's an ESP problem or a display problem.

But:

The ILI9488 display I only have test with ESP32, because of the update speed

The ST8879 only on Arduino UNO and Nano.

Please At least the ILi9488 could be fixed, then I may accept that all the other display only work in FC8 and not in FC9.

Hi Jorgen,

I'll have another look for you today. With the ILI9488 and the ST8879 displays have you tried these on v8? Often the displays have a lot of configuration options and so the display can end up being wired in a number of ways. If the displays are working in v8 then they certainly should be able to work in v9 and I'm surprised they are not.

With the ESP I wonder if the increased speed is causing the problems? It might be interesting to try on an AVR and see if that works as a first step.

Try and make your tests quite varied so we can tell if the main functions of the display is working rather then just being a problem with the new text fonts. Drawing a line or rectangle should allow you to check if the plot functions are working.

First the ili9143 SPI together with ESP32 work nice, I suppose it´s almost similar to the ili9488. I know I have to be avare of configuration and connections. Prescale max. 30 Mhz ect.

The Ili9488 is not available in FC8 and no matter what I do it will not work in FC9 with ESP32. And I see you managed to get it work in parallel mode.

The ST7789 does not work in FC8, either in FC9. Work fine with an examble I have downloaded with Arduino Ide.

All the tiny display SSH1106 and SSD1306 Work fine in FC8 but not in FC9. I guess the reason not working in FC9, could be after the new features with font´s.

I have made a test with the ILI9488 SPI with an Arduino Mega. I have tryed everything in the config, work fine in simulation, but it will not work with SPI in real world. Sadly, its a nice big display with touch.
